About Us

The idea for La Stitcherie came from Heather's mother, Freda, who suggested it one day whilst watching Heather and Christine sewing and planning a business idea. It developed from their mutual love of fabric and creating beautiful and practical things.

Using recycled fabric for many of their projects allows them to keep costs down whilst being environmentally conscious. As both Heather and Christine love communicating and sharing ideas, the desire to teach and pass on their knowledge, skills and interests developed into the weekly workshops and classes for all levels.

Sewing is only one part of the business; social groups for knitting, crochet and embroidery are also available for all levels and interests. In an increasingly computerised world, Heather and Christine both like the idea of creating something with their hands and their imaginations.

Heather Lambert

After teaching English to secondary school children for 26 years, Heather retired to France and realised she wanted to spend more time sewing and creating clothes and beautiful items, as she also missed teaching. Starting La Stitcherie, with Christine, allows her to do both.

Heather has two grown-up sons and a grandson, and lives with her husband Clive and their Jack Russell / Corgi cross in Ceaucé, Normandy. When she is not sewing, Heather enjoys reading, gardening, doing yoga and learning French.

Sewing has always been Christine's first love, and quilting is at the very heart of her hobby. Cutting up pieces of fabric and lovingly sewing them back together is a real passion for her, and she can't wait to pass her knowledge on to others at La Stitcherie. Her career in management has prepared her for teaching the joys of sewing, and talking to people and getting to know them is something she relishes.

Christine and Andre live in an old watermill on the river Varenne in Ceaucé, with 6 chickens and their Lhasa Apso, Lulu. She has two daughters and four grandchildren, and in her spare time she enjoys yoga, reading and junk journaling.

Heather and Christine became firm friends when they realised that their hobbies were sewing-related, and are both very excited to open La Stitcherie together.
